ICYMI: MBE/WBE Vendor Open House Recap

Flint Hills Resources recently hosted an informational open house for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE) vendors on upcoming opportunities related to the Bastrop-Austin Texas Pipeline project. The event provided an overview of upcoming contracting opportunities related to the BATX Pipeline and reinforced Flint Hills Resources’ commitment to meeting the City of Austin’s Better Builder Standards and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements to offer valuable insights into the project’s scopes of work, contractor requirements, and bidding process.

The open house was held on May 1st at the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel and was promoted through targeted email invitations sent to Austin-area contractors, minority chambers, and trade associations. It was also featured in several newsletters, including those of Small and Minority Business Resources (SMBR) department, the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce, and the US Hispanic Contractors Association de Austin.

During the event, Flint Hills Resources Procurement team presented an overview of the project’s identified scopes of work, contractor requirements and procurement timeline. Jolene Cochran, Program Compliance Coordinator for SMBR, also participated and outlined SMBR’s specific goals for the project.

The event was well attended and provided prospective vendors the opportunity to engage with project managers and procurement staff, ask questions, and learn how to participate in upcoming contracting opportunities.
